Michelle Wright

Enjoyed the concert immensly.... this one is my fav.

My Tree....It so Fit...perfectly!

.... in our big living room. This sweet offering was 15 ft high to fit in under the ceiling where it rests. The actual ceiling is 17 ft high, but it's part way down the slope of the cathedral ceiling.
I didn't know what to use as scale, but the TV is a 46", and the lower window (curtains) is abt 7.5 ft or 8ft high at the top?
This is our joyful view til the holiday is over.
She's a beauty.

Tradition....

My parents tree is decorated with gems that are as young as last year, and as old as I am and all in between.
Each year, mum would give my brother and I a decoration for that year, and one for their own tree too. When we each moved out, we took our decorations with us, and then started to add to it ourselves.

The other tradition shown here, but hard to tell on a quick glance is, that is a candle on the tree, not a fancy light.

We still use candles on the tree for Christmas Eve when we do our gifts. Only twice in over 30 years have we had to forgo because the tree may have been too dry. We usually only get it a few days before that night, so it's as fresh as can be.

Streaks....

Kids curling in the dark....with flashlights!

Paint with Light??

So, my daughter is into curling, as is her younger sister. Last night was the xmas party for the Bantams. The kids played in the dark on the ice. All lights out both on the sheets and in the club so the glare didn't affect thier game.
Each sheet only had 2 flashlights, one for each end.
So, having the tripod handy (as I almost always do) and the camera even handier (as I ALWAYS do...point and shoot's are great for that), I scrammed out in the cold with the kids, along the rails and snapped of several shots in the dark.
The light at the end is the clock, it was the only light on. The rest is the Zigzag's of the flashlights of the kids while they are playing. The ghosts you see are them too. I just had to take the chance of getting something cool from thier game. It was fun to watch it period, and even more fun to have been able to catch some of it!

Snowy Morning

Outside my backyard from the upper window. Snowy morning the other day.

The Tower, of the Tower Field

Looking across towards town, waaaaay over that ridge.

Geese

Still flying...heard them over the ridge, saw them over me, happened to catch them in a gap in the tree's.

Misty Foggy Morning

at The Tower Field- Andy's Stand, at least I had something to watch and enjoy. No deer in sight...sigh

Chipmunk!!!!....oh...wait a minute...

Damn....he got away! Geez they are so quick!
See the nut casings in the bottom right? Ya, he had been there too....sigh

My View, Straight up

The tree I had my back against...and its companion's in the jawbone area.

The Jawbone

The Jawbone Stand is north and west of our house. Takes about 15 min walking to get there. This is just one patch of the view from the blind.

Milkweed, Ready to Fly Away

At the farm, along the creek. This stuff is everywhere in the fall. The best days are a crisp lifting wind, and then these fly loose all over, that's so pretty! Didn't happen yet this year....
still waiting.

Almonte Cenotaph

Before the ceremony on Rememberance Day.

Colour Party, Almonte Legion

coming up Little Bridge Street, flags flapping, leading the soldiers, veterans, cadets, and scouts to the cenotaph.

Two Young Ones, Remembering...

I saw this large wreath as people were gathering for the ceremony. These two little ladies delivered it to its resting place.
I caught them just in view for only a moment.

Amy on Duty

I don't think she knew I was there the whole time, snapping pic's, but I did get a few.
I don't have a fancy camera, but caught just her in focus, everything else is in motion or out of focus. Kinda cool.
She's intent on her duty of laying wreaths though, more to do still.

The Salute

Amy with 2 other cadets, saluting the cenotaph, after laying 3 more wreaths.

The View from Here

Cold day, standing back and off to the side. My daughter taking part in the ceremony in cadets. The Scouts Canada group in attendance as well.
This was my view from where I stood near the end of the ceremony. Couldn't resist trying to catch that wee 'Beaver' holding the flag (the little guy with the blue hat on).
Darn flag pole insisted on being in the way, but hey, it's still a decent pic.

Camo.....

Almost put my hand right on this as I came home the other day. Love stick bugs! She's kinda slow in the cooler weather, but she climbed on my hand for a few min's and was totally happy to stay there too (its warmer afterall)...

Had to encourage her back to the underside of the hand rail going up our steps.

What a Day...what a DAY!!!!

Incredible~! not too warm not too cold.... well, alright, chilly with the darn wind if the sun hid behind the clouds, which it was wont to do a lot that day in the park. Cross Country meet in Gemmill Park in Almonte. Perfect day for it though.

This sky had me enthralled all day, the kind you see all sorts of shapes in with every cloudy puff that floats by.

Can you see the geese?

True Colours

My Local Favorite!

Every year is a bit different in the depth of the colours. This offering lives near me, but is actually 2 maples, grown so close together, they have created the 'ideal maple shape' as one. Truly, the only time they remind you they are two tree's not one, is in the fall, when they show thier 'true colours' and thier differences are painfully obvious.

Any other time, you have to look closely to see there are two trunks, not just one.

.....and yes, I know, I'm not supposed to 'center' anything...rule of 3rds.... but hey... this one time ok? just this one time! lol

In The Park

This little wee dog came down for his 'regular' walk/play time in the park. Little did he/she know that a whole bunch of interlopers were intruding that day. Gemmill Park in Almonte was hosting the Cross Country event for elementary school kids from various schools in the county. He spotted one of the marshall's (of which I was one all day) shortly after this and set up a ferocious barking. (how dare 'we' come to THE park!!! hehehehe)

"Golden Line"

I took this one in winter as well, some time ago. This weekend it was lovely in its fall shades.

Maple Love

Fall Glory

One of the majestic maples near my house. There are several that are showpieces come this time of year.

Red Carpet

lol....mother nature's version.
This is from in town, and is one of the big maples near our church on the main street.

Our First Stop...

(after french fries for lunch of course)...lol
Lanark was just behind us, McDonald's Corner's ahead. We stopped and climbed around at the river. Spent 5 glorious hours driving, stopping, taking pic's, talking, just vegging...what an amazing day!

Frontenac County, some of the Highlands, just Leaving Elphin.

As we headed north from Elphin, on our way to Snow Road, this is some of the vista in front of you.

Frontenac County, had to stop

The shoreline left a lot to be desired, but the far shore was lovely!
We also had about 10" to pull over, so parked carefully, snapped some pic's and moved onwards.

"John Thompson Hall"

On our journey that day, we stopped to watch a mother coyote and her young ones (fairly full grown now) probably mouse hunting in the field. This view was our next turn once we got back on the road again.
Had a great day.

....and even Rain can leave its Mark

Imagine that, we don't tend to think much of water leaving notice of its' passing behind, unless we're talking floods or tidal waves or big scale like that.
Here, its just gravity and water, has made the grooves over time.

Stand Alone

....this is no cheese...but it stands all by itself in the field of smaller stones.

Will Stand the Test of Time

I love rock. Rock of all kinds, colours, shapes, and this stuff is patterened, from ages and ages past.....
This looks not unlike folded sheets or something....
I just liked it.
And two different perspectives too, straight on at one point, and a funny angle from the ditch.
That one kinda looks like petrified wood, not rock. Cool Beans!

Glorious Sun...

.....flower that is...
Out taking pic's of the falls in Almonte as they are tearing the living heck outta it. Making changes to better the hydro generators performance....cutting a huge channel to direct water to the new turbines lower in the river.
At this point its hugely scary, no water, just rock, and blast debris. Horns sound, foundations reverberate over and over. I work in a basement, so I don't even hear the horns warning of a blast...I just feel the sudden boom. Freaky!
Geez...Almonte's built on rock...imagine that!
So, after getting lots of pics of that sad site...I found this sunny face on my way back up the street.
Wish a wee bee had been handy, but heck, I'm not chasing down a bug....least of all, one that can sting me!....
Summer Sunshine, brillant!

As they Were ....

This time of year, there are so many different kinds of mushrooms growing almost everywhere you look in the woods.
And some seem to grow overnight!
I know enough to not pick them though. I don't know my local varieties well enough to choose the safe ones. There are many that'll make you sick or worse.... so, they stay where they are.... as they were.

Heritage Perth Water Tower

Its just.... big!

Colour!

Fall is such a beautiful season, albeit bitter sweet. It reminds us that the season of sleep is coming fast...and geez, I hope we don't get the kind of w!n{er we had last year!
It seems like I woke up Saturday am to the leaves suddenly on the way to new colours. Vivid like they've not been in years! Red's are glorious, copper, yellow, and all the in betweens (peachy orange's, still green in the middle)....yada yada yada.
Then you get to play with the pic's in the photoprogram on your comp.
This is some leaves turned copper and yellow, pulled down into the cool colour zone and turn it all purples and brilliant neons!
I loved the original, til I saw this...now the original pales by comparison.

Um... Ouch?

Geez.... eating fire....wow!
Hope he's got a good chapstick on!!!!

Trebuchet ...Let er rip!

Alrighty, not sure if I spelled it right.... and no, it's not a catapult.
Catapult simply springs the object up and over like a spoon.
Trebuchet swings and flings the thing, torque is crazy high and the object fliiiiiiies!
Put the camera on highspeed shutter, and got several as it let loose.
This was one that showed everything in motion....

including kids poised to run to find the brick they throw out there.

Yep...old fashioned games....
"Hey kids, come on over here and go catch that brick as I throw it...gotta get the aim down on the this thing before the next siege!""

lolol

Steady....Steady...Balance that Thing! ... and Shake that Other Thing!!!

Holy moly.....
She can move, and balance that really big knife on her head at the same time!
Love her outfit (hmmm...where can I get all that getup). She was demonstrating belly dancing and gypsy dancing for the kids at the Medieval Wknd.

On the fly...

almost...
flying down the road instead.... my older daughter enjoying the wind!

Night shots, long exposure....

and moving objects...lolol
a plane or two were flying overhead as I took this one.

Bright lights... by Mother Nature

Before the colours show'd up...this was the sky.
People down in front, all sillouette's too.

My kids are in there somewhere, but can't tell?!

Near the end of the day at MOB Westboro

Was able to catch a wee bit of colour as the sun dove behind the clouds for the day.

Hmmm....what is it?

part of the movie "Cars" on Movies on the Beach at Westboro Beach Aug 22. I got a few neat shots, this one I liked.
