To What do I Owe this Honour, My Lord,?

How very kind and gracious of you My Lord Jelly; to grace us not only with your presence today, but your regal outreach over the kingdom of (my) bed; as well as your splendid pose for me too.
All Hail My Lord Jelly, and the Kingdom of (my) Bed!

-17C and Open Water ...

The river in Almonte, after a night of abt -17 C. I was hoping for frost galore on the tree branches, but very little actually laid down. On the other hand, I don't see this kind of river fog all that often here either. It's the moisture lifting off in clouds as it spills down the falls thru town.

Which Way Doth Blow the Wind??

hmmmm.... not much really to say about this one. Just stopped one morning with extra time, planned so I could get some shots in before work. This is the top edge of one of those 'lovely' drifts that gather's on my road in the winter winds. It's not as big as it looks, really....
I drive by them every day, and finally my plans to stop and shoot, worked out. Hope the pic is worth it! I've seen better, but we're talking 'snow plow' obliterating it in a few hours!!! Grab it while you can get it.

Waiting...

Emotional Photography...see below.

This one was Lindsay's idea. She thought it made her look like a 'hobo'.

Dark is Night...another Perspective

I never thought that city light pollution could be so charming! This is twilight, the day is almost completely faded out, and the camera is facing east. This is a long exposure too, although 60 seconds isn't all that long to some, its the longest I can currently do.

Saw this view last week, had to come back to collect it too.

Alone...

Just waiting, alone, on the bridge.

Lindsay and I talked about photography a bit tonight and we decided to try a few perspectives for emotional response. This was one of my idea's. Hope you like it.

By the Light of Dark

Coffee time with a gf tonight...went for a short drive this time rather than sitting and talking and watching the world go by. Wound up in Carleton Place and decided to take a few pictures even though it was pretty cold out (-17c).
This is the north side of the Mississippi River from the bridge. You can see the St. James Anglican church, plus a whole lot of other buildings too! It turned out just great! Or so I thought....LOL

Snowflakes...up close and personal!

but not too close, or your breathe will melt them all! Tiny, perfect, every one is different, flakes.....

How beautiful....sigh!

...

...

...

...

now, grab a shovel, and help move this lot...cause at 50cm falling, we have a lot to do!

Winter isn't over yet folks!

Now Where Did I Just See That One....

Searching for that one perfect snowflake, the one you can actually see the shape of and is separate from its neighbours among all the tiny snowball type snow, and plain fluff snow. I'm sure it was just here!!!

The Road Not Taken....

This old unused 'road' is near my house. It does go back into an old farm homestead. Mostly maples in the front, and the gate keeps folks out. As you can see, no one has even ventured up to the gate all winter. Its lovely back there, but private property. (although I do know the folks who own it/work the land, so I can go back with permission, just gotta call)
I love the way it invites you down, yet, the way is blocked at the same time. My eyes gaze down the path, waiting for spring to come.

Bright Lights .... Big City?

No, not really 'big city'. This is Carleton Place main street, alive with its lights. Taken Thursday night after my monthly girls gather, when it was so darn cold. The river and bridge are at the far end and the frosty fog rolling over the bridge from the open river rushing below was so pretty.
This street is a main street so still fairly busy even at 11 pm and on a -24c night.
Still, snapped a few pic's, and this one has 2 cars going by while the shot was taking, so I've got that white light blur....been looking forward to catching it, and now I have! Lots more idea's of stuff to try with my night shot, and some wont be at night, but close to it, wanna see what happens on different options.
Anyways, enjoy the bright lights! It made me smile.

When Darkness Falls ....

This view is completely boring and uninteresting during any other time of the day, but at night, it holds me, gazing down the straight road, to the ever so gentle glow at the other end, town lights thru the gap in the trees that the road provides.

This was taken on Thursday night (-24C plus wind chill) and was brutal to get, as everything I owned was freezing and I'm waiting for the camera to finish it's job so I can go home!!!

30 seconds to take the pic, and the road is abt 5 km to the first rise. A car popped over the rise half way thru the shot, and it looks like the sun rising instead! I got a few other pic's too that night but it was seriously too cold to stay very long. And waiting for the car to go by, took a few minutes so I could retake the shot.

Quickly, decided I needed home, and warmth, so will be back. I just couldn't resist the crispness of a freezing cold night for photo's!

MMMMmmmmmmm ....... Ohhhh yaaa....thats the spot!

My 9 yr old daughter took this one with my camera. She's got a good eye too. This is her pup Jade, who is a Jack Russell terrier. She's one of 3 pups we have, and they are all completely different personalities. There are other pics of all three further down in my blog here.
