Night shots, long exposure....

a plane or two were flying overhead as I took this one.

Bright lights... by Mother Nature

Before the colours show'd up...this was the sky.
People down in front, all sillouette's too.

My kids are in there somewhere, but can't tell?!

Near the end of the day at MOB Westboro

Was able to catch a wee bit of colour as the sun dove behind the clouds for the day.

Hmmm....what is it?

part of the movie "Cars" on Movies on the Beach at Westboro Beach Aug 22. I got a few neat shots, this one I liked.

My Daughter

My younger daughter Amy helped me out with setting for some pics awhile back. I needed a few shots for the competition at the local fair, which I enjoy entering each year.
Here she is showing off an 'old hat' and 'a lone star' (which was a child holding a single flower)
She's my baby! hehehehe

Railway Museum, Smiths Falls

Ghost hunting is a hobby of mine, and together with a dedicated group of friends, we've been doing this for over two years now.
Recently we had the permission to 'hunt' 3 sites in Smiths Falls on the nights of Aug 15, 16-08.
In going thru the Railway Museum, and doing the things we do, I pattered off during a break to take a few long exposure shots.
The lights set on the platform were really pretty and I like night shots anyways, so decided to get a few.
Shane, a new member, was wondering what I was doing, and wandered over. So I enlisted his help for an idea I had.
So many times, ghostly images show up in pictures and they are relatively explainable depending on the circumstances of the taking at the time.

This time, I wanted to show how easy it is to 'make your own ghost' picture. With Shane's help, and a 15 second exposure (he stood still for 5 seconds, then slowly walked straight towards me), I was happy with the final result, and was zooming in to show Shane what it looked like...when we found that there was more to the image than I had planned.
Beside him, is the shape of another person, either facing me or facing sideways towards him, I'm not sure which. I know that Shane never stepped sideways while I took it. He came straight down the platform towards me....so where did that come from?
I've included a closer view as well.
Would love to hear other comments from photographers with logical arguments as to how that occured?
Remember, only Shane on the platform and he didn't step to the side. I wish someone else had been there with us too, to prove it with a video camera or something....sigh.
But oh boy we had fun!
Heritage House and Davidson Court the next night both proved to be quite enlightening as well.

Sunday Morning Sunrise

yawwwwn... Oh boy... well, up at 4am ish.... geez. 4 hrs sleep isn't going to last me all day is it? Hope so!... and at 6 am...the sky just started to 'pink' up a bit with the golden glory about to grace the morning even though it was raining....
So I scooted upstairs (gets me above the power lines running along the road in front of my house)... opened up the door and proceeded to take like 40 shots or more over the next 6 minutes.
I didn't do much to 'tweak' this shot...it came out all red all by itself...I had to cool it down a tad to get the purple back in it. And, its crazy what the camera see's too, as this sky, to me, was a bit peach where the sun was and the rest was a hazy blue/grey...not all that outstanding.
Must have been the rain changing the light or something? The camera saw it the same as me, but took it in this vibrant display of showmanship.
Man, I'm glad I was up to take this!....
Now, gotta get up at 2 am for the meteor shower in the next few mornings!
Set the tripod, and see what happens?!

Suprise Visitor....Here's Looking at You, Kid~!

Fixing the blown lightbulb at the back door, this 'not so little' lovely squirmed out from behind the lamppost and stuck to everything he/she clung to. Gathered toad and camera, and everyone took turns holding and posing with this beautiful changable darling. I've seen these apple green, and as grey as weathered wood and every variation in between. I think they have the chameleon like ability to change to thier surroundings for camoflage.
Very cool....!

On Our Way Home.... End of Day

The end to our glorious day fishing, just the hub and me!
And if you want to know what was caught...ask me, not hubby...he's still kinda ticked off at me! heheheheheheh
(or go check it out on facebook!)

Almonte Falls, Micro sized

This is just a small space of the falls, way up near the top. You can see the edge of the breakwater barrier that in other times is well underwater.
The colour's are really there on thier own too. I did nothing to enhance them.

Falls in Almonte, with OUT water!

You may remember (or you can go back thru) my pictures of these falls overflowing with water, both in winter (frozen in time some days) and in spring (bursting the banks with a kazillion tons of water flowing down them)..... and now, in summer, even though we've had a wet year, they are virtually dry.
I'm guessing the tiny amount that flows down this great space is down to 1% of other high times, and that doesn't come over the falls barrier, but sneaks thru the rocks layers and finds a way down.
I found this big flat, yet layered place irresistable, and climbed down and all over, taking shot after shot in the failing light of a Saturday night last week.
Lindsay was with me again, and I've got some pic's to give her too.
Needless to say, I'll be back very soon to take some more. With better shoe's on too, and maybe a friend to help climb down deep to the bottom. LOL and before I forget, so you can see the perspective of how big those rocks are.... there's a white patch with black below it sprouting from a pair of legs, upper, left side, near the green tree's. That's a teenager with some friends standing there.

And he's offfffff!!!!!!

A laden bee, on his way to the next flower....they never stop for long!

Coco arrives at Movies on the Beach

So, we finally all get down there....kids, chairs, umbrella (ya, the bright pink one is us, and yes it came down in time for the movie), beach blanket (thanks BOB FM), and later on, coats...(it got cool that night)
Kids distapeard into the water, as did hubby. Mummy gets to guard the stuff.....oh well.
Everyone comes back in time to see the show and we all enjoyed it immensly!
and Coco(nut) was allowed to come, as we were needing to bring a coconut to cheer on the crowd and the movie.
He's a puppet, there are 2 more in at the store I work at.
Puppets up Festival is Aug 9-10 wknd in Almonte, and we have several puppet's in our shop window's at the moment to show them off.

Coco Peeking out...a bit shy...

Not sure if he wants to face that crowd...Coco (nut) is peeking out from behind the big screen at the  Mooney's Bay Beach, Movies on the Beach on July 27-08.
He's only a coconut puppet after all....he lives most of his life in a box...! This is BIG BOB Potatoes for him....
but he had to come, to cheer on Monty Python and the Holy Grail crowd.

MOB, Coco spots the Big Can of BOB

Yes, enjoying checking out the stuff on site, Coco is amazed at the size of that HUGE can of BOB!!!
